In the past week, we have taken several announcements into consideration while attempting to reschedule the Junior Beef Expo. Those include: Alabama public schools being closed for the remaining of the school year Governor Ivey closing “non-essential” business until April 17 President Trump extending federal social distancing guidelines until April 30 Our goal from the beginning has been to reward the hard work of our exhibitors. Covid-19 Update

The Alabama Farmers Federation has been constantly monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. Given increasing restrictions on gatherings and the uncertainty surrounding this situation, the Alabama Junior Beef Expo will continue to remain postponed. While we remain hopeful to schedule a make-up show date, we understand the challenge this puts on you as an exhibitor. As we continue to gather new information, we will provide you with another update no later than next Monday, March 30. Stay safe and please keep our state, nation and world in your prayers.

A JBE Update

The Junior Beef Expo remains postponed at least through March 31. The Alabama Farmers Federation and its partners do not take this postponement lightly. Many of our leadership and staff grew up in the industry and fully understand the challenges cancellation or postponement creates for our exhibitors and their projects. We share your disappointment and frustration over the current situation. While alternative plans are being discussed, including dates and facilities, here are just a few of the challenges that persist: All public schools are closed until April 6. JBE Postponed

Under direction of the City of Montgomery, the Alabama Junior Beef Expo has been postponed, along with the Southeastern Livestock Exposition (SLE). These actions were taken in an effort to limit the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Alabama Farmers Federation and its partners are exploring options to reschedule. While we do not currently have a date for a replacement show, we understand time is of the essence, especially for market animals. We are working diligently to reschedule and will provide weekly updates regarding status of the show. Registration fees will remain valid for the replacement show. Anyone for Cornhole?

Have you heard? We're tossing around a new idea at the Jr Beef Expo. It's a cornhole tournament! Exhibitors and adults can participate. See rules below and good luck! REGISTRATION Entry will be free for all divisions. Registration will begin at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 through the conclusion of the Junior Market Show on Friday, March 20. Showmanship and Market - Scott Werning, Emery, SD Scott and his family operate Werning Cattle Company-W/C in the hills of the James River Valley near Emery, South Dakota. Scott is a 2006 graduate of South Dakota State University where he was a member of the 2005 Livestock Judging Team and the 2005 National Meat Animal Evaluation Team.
