Breeding Heifer Judge

Owen Macfarlane was raised on a large purebred seedstock operation which raised Angus, Red Angus, Gelbveih, and Hereford Cattle. After many years competing at the local, state and national levels as a junior exhibitor, Owen began his collegiate livestock judging career at Redlands Community College. While at Redlands, he and his team received numerous honors and awards including being named the 2013 National Team of the year. After junior college, Owen pursued his judging career at Texas A&M University where he earned multiple team and individual honors place, including being named High Individual Overall at the 2015 Houston Livestock Show.

After his judging career, Owen served as the assistant livestock judging coach at Texas A&M while pursuing his masters degree. As a coach, Owen was honored to play a role in preparing numerous high individuals as well as the 2016 champion team at the American Royal Livestock Show, the champion team at the 2017 National Western Stock Show, the 2017 champion team at the State Fair of Texas and the 2018 champion team at the Houston Livestock Show.

Currently, Owen spends his days managing Shipwreck Cattle Company, where they strive to produce high-end, purebred cattle. Shipwreck Cattle Company’s April and October sales are stacked with high quality bulls and females ready to be added to any herd, as well as females that are notoriously competitive at the national level.

Market & Showmanship Judge Jim Bloomberg is a Berwick, Illinois native. His family raises primarily Simmentals but is also involved with Angus and Herefords. Jim has judged cattle shows in several states at the local, state and national levels serving as the official for shows in Louisville, Kansas City, Denver, Fort Worth and Houston. Jim and his wife, Mary, have been married 34 years. They have three children, Blake, Jamie and Jake, who exhibited numerous breeds as juniors and now also are judging shows across the country. Jim looks forward to working with the youth in Alabama.
