Get to know the 2022 JBE judges.
Cattle Showmanship – Will & Kelsey Gibson (Summit, Mississippi)
Will and Kelsey reside in Summit, Mississippi where the two run Gibson Cattle Company along with their son, Kolyer. Both grew up in the livestock industry which took them to Redlands Community College, where Will was a member of the livestock judging team and Kelsey was on the show team. Kelsey graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Agricultural Communications. Will completed his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Texas Tech University. While there, he won numerous individual and team titles on the judging team. Will is currently a Regional Manager for Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation, while Kelsey is a English teacher at Brookhaven High School.
Market & Breeding Cattle – Dr. Jon DeClerck (College Station, TX)
Dr. Jon DeClerck is a Technical Consultant for Purina Animal Nutrition and resides in College Station, Texas. He grew up on a cattle operation in Illinois and attended Texas A&M for his bachelor’s degree and completed his graduate education at Texas Tech University. Prior to Purina, Jon was the Judging Coach at Iowa State and Texas Tech Universities and is the first individual in history to judge on a National Champion Livestock Judging Team at all 3 levels of competition (4-H, Junior College, and Senior College), and to also coach a National Champion Livestock Judging Team at the University level.

Ultrasound Challenge – Free to enter! Exhibitors should plan to compete in the Ultrasound Challenge held on Wednesday, March 16th from 2-4 p.m. This challenge is great way to familiarize exhibitors and their families with ultrasound technology, receive carcass data on their projects, and award top ranking animals. Note – no hair will be clipped, but oil will be used for ultrasounding purposes. This event will be held in the Lewis Barn.
Stock Show University – We invite all exhibitors to attend ‘Stock Show U’ on Wednesday, March 16th from 4-6 p.m. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about preparing your animal to perform their best both at home and the day of the show. Showmanship tactics will also be covered. This event will be held in the Lewis Barn.
Pee Wee Showmanship – Held immediately after the Junior Showmanship Division selection, a Pee Wee showmanship division will be held for all aspiring young showman who are younger than the minimum age required to enter the JBE. Young exhibitors can exhibit any animal they wish and are encouraged to bring an experienced showman (parent, sibling, role model, etc.) into the ring with them. Entry is free and sign-up will be available during Check-In.
JBE/JSE Pancake Breakfast – Join us on Friday, March 18th at 7 a.m. for the JBE/JSE Pancake Breakfast in the Lewis Barn.
JBE Cornhole Tournament – Join us on Friday, March 19 after the Junior Market Show for the Annual JBE/JSE Cornhole Tournament in the Teague Arena. Practice at home, find a partner, and come prepared for a good time!
